Witness the Annular Solar Eclipse at Azura Quilalea
The Earth, Moon and Sun are aligning for a spectacular show. An annular solar eclipse occurs when the moon eclipses the sun, but is at its furthest from earth. The moon does not cover the entire sun, leaving a “ring of fire”.
On 1 September 2016, an annular solar eclipse will pass over the remote Quirimbas Archipelago in the North of Mozambique. Azura Quilalea Private Island will be in the centre line of the moon’s shadow – the perfect place to experience this once in a lifetime event! This won’t happen again in the Quirimbas for another 84 years.
Also observe the conjunction of Jupiter, Venus, Mercury and the moon between 27 August and 3 September while Mars and Saturn are overhead in Scorpius. All 5 visible planets observable simultaneously. Expert Johan Strydom of Lethabo Adventures will be joining us at Azura Quilalea over this period to explain the actual event that is taking place.
Packages starts at USD $4 664 per person sharing for 4 nights. The package includes return flights from Johannesburg to Pemba airport, scenic helicopter return transfers to the Island, 4 nights stay in a beach front villa, stargazing sessions, all meals and local drinks.
If you prefer to experience a Partial Eclipse in the bush, we have the perfect place for you! A 90% Eclipse can also be observed from our luxury safari property in Tanzania, Azura Selous Game Reserve.
